A lot of works of Heizo received high acclaim because of its freewheeling pattern and coloration. It is said that comes from his literary nature.


When Heizo was 16 years old, The parents' business goes bankrupt and he decided to make a living by selling woven goods.


Then he started to handle Nishijin-brocade that was said deluxe goods by the uncle's help.

However, he got tired of sales of the woven goods that others made, it was not worth.
Then he founded TATSUMURA TEXTILE Co. in Kyoto in 1906, and he started to research and make the technology of woven goods better.

In addition, he designed new ways to weave called "KOURA-ORI", " GOBURAN-ORI" and "MUSEN-ORI" and he acquired some patents in these ways to weave.

He accomplished the following leap with this.

He thought that in woven goods, the one that was not able to be mathematically divided
and the odd number must be beauty. He kept pursuing the beauty of the ideal, and he creating the work.

He studied hard for ten years or more, and produced some works. Then he announced these
works as "TATSUMURA Art" in 1919.


With the years, he came to devote his energies to the restoration of old dyeing and weaving in all over the world.

Heizo thoguht that research is not only works of mere analysis and historical investigation but also should become an accurate, exact restoration.
